Mission

The High School Hackers Hackathon is an event for high schoolers of all experience levels to build exciting coding projects, learn new things, meet other hackers, and win fun prizes. Students of all abilities are welcome, including and especially beginners. My mission is to help other teenagers expand their love of coding and gain valuable experience.

About the Event

The High School Hackathon will take place on April 27 in Manhattan, and will focus on projects using NYC data. There will be instructionals, speeches, and many helpful mentors. Towards the end of the day, everyone will present their projects to a panel of judges, who will award prizes big and small. This will be a one day event; come as an individual or as a group of two, and make sure to bring a computer and your sense of wonder.

About Me

Hi! My name’s Alex and I’m a sophomore in high school. I began to take coding seriously a couple of years ago, and I realized that I had a passion for it. I love problem solving, learning new programming languages, and watching the computer follow the exact instructions I give it. I have had fun exploring coding, but I noticed that there are not many opportunities to engage in the craft with other like-minded peers. Therefore, I have decided to start High School Hackers: a fun and collaborative event where high schoolers can support each other and continue to learn and grow our skills.
